long term.
I've only had one part-time job since I graduated from high-school, other than my current job at Year Up. I was a shipping associate at a e-Commerce store (Online DVDs/Books/Games) where I enjoyed the majority of time at the job.
Here I learned how to deal with coworkers, managers and customers, like everybody I made mistakes and asked a lot of questions the first week and even the second one. My days at this job were simple, all I did was pull the online orders, I got them packed and ready to be shipped. The downtime at this job was really constant every day for the last couple of hours, and what I did to take advantage of the down hours, I Helped all of my coworkers and asked my manager if I could do anything else, for example; I would help clean the computers, book shelves, shipping carts and helped others finish their jobs. By helping coworkers, being innovative about the shipping methods and keeping a positive attitude I managed to pull out an almost perfect evaluation with my boss, they actually offered me to stay full-time whenever I was ready for it. I turned the offer down because I wanted to expand my education and finally start college. Everybody respected the fact that I was thinking long term and that i was making the right decision for my future. I also never liked the fact that the job I had was a "dead end job" and super repetitive, so this made me realize that I needed a career not just a full-time job.

I would imagine you with boxes and a pack of tape next to you. I am glad that you are thinking on the long run because the outcome can be great. I have made mistakes also and I have realized that by asking questions always helps out to learn.
ReplyDeleteHello Sal , i completely understand what you mean and i commend your decision to make a decision that would better your future as appose to accepting a dead end job, I myself have been in a similar situation and wish i made the decision for my future sooner.
