Downtown.

Downtown High school, San Francisco California, this was my favorite high school even though it is a continuation school, it is unique on its own way because it gives students a second chance to reach the graduation goal, the staff at Downtown high is really dedicated and cares about the students, my personal experiences at the school were good, at downtown high I matured and learned to appreciate a lot more, from little things to all of the people around me, it might sound kind of lame, not to me because I used to be selfish, manipulating and a careless individual, I used to only think about myself and how would things benefit me and nobody else.
I learned to never give up and how other people cared for me and that changed my prospective on everything, the teachers have high expectations for all of the students but it is up to them to keep up the expectations, they help you but they don't do the work for you, the community support is very strong I would say, the students go on field trips, have fundraisers and do community service at the parks around the area to help out the environment.
If you would like more info about this school feel free to leave a comment.

  1. It sounds like you've been through a lot and I would have never thought this of you. I would think you had a regular high school life.

  2. Sal, I really like your posting on your high school I think it was very well put specially when you state that the teachers had high expectations of the students but it was up to them to meet those expectations. I think that our public school system in some way has gave up on the students and only care about their attendance in order to get their required funding to keep the school running and have lost focus in how well a student does. Having students contribute to society keeps them motivated and involved within their school environment in order for them to succeed and its sad that this is offered at a continuation school rather then a regular school as a form of you will get the help when its too late.

  3. I appreciate, your honesty in this post. Not many people these days are mature enough to acknowledge there shot comings. However this is the first step to taking action to make change in our life. So I commend you and would like to share a quote "It is better to fail then to fail to try at all."

  4. I really respect that you analyzed yourself and really let everyone know that you did have flaws in high school. It seems as if all continuation schools have never succeeded in having graduating students but it seems as if this one for you was very supportive. I'm also glad you have grown from high school ways to a mature man.

  5. I agree too. When you go to a continuation school the teachers really support you in your work. Because they want you to success in that continuation school,I guess they know you didn't get that support when you were at your regular high school. They want to make sure you success and graduate, and move onto college.I guess they did a good job, because now you graduate and move on to college.
